State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation

The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) within the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) is the federal government's specialised agency for national and international matters concerning education, research and innovation policy.

Swiss National Science Foundation

Based on a government mandate, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) supports scientific research in all academic disciplines, from history to medicine and the engineering sciences. At the end of 2019, the SNSF was funding 5750 projects involving 18,900 researchers, which makes it the leading Swiss institution for promoting scientific research.

Members

The SCTO is an association within the meaning of Articles 60 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code (Zivilgesetzbuch – ZGB) and has the membership categories ordinary member and associate member.

The founding members of the SCTO are the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS); the boards of directors of the university hospitals of Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich; the board of directors of the cantonal hospital of St.Gallen; and the Collège des Doyens. The Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC) Ticino is our newest ordinary member. As a not-for-profit institution involved in clinical research, the Swiss Paraplegic Centre (SPC) in Nottwil is the SCTO’s first associated member.
